Meat pie recipe
Below are the ingredients you will be needing
500g mincemeat or ground beef (18-20%fat)
700g plain flour, extra for dusting and thickening
3 Tablespoon of baking powder
380g unsalted butter
1 large egg
Water
Salt to taste
Seasoning cube to taste
2 medium-size potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 small onion, chopped
1 big carrot, cleaned and cubed
1 cooking spoon vegetable oil
1 Big size of green pepper cubed
1 Big size of yellow pepper cubed
1 Big size of red pepper cubed
1 teaspoon of curry
1 Teaspoon of Thyme
Method on How to Make Meat Pie
- Get a clean bowl and pour your flour
- Add 1 teaspoon of salt
- Add 1 seasoning cube
- Add baking powder
- Mex them together
- Add butter and mix very well
- Add your water not too much
- Mix it well and set the dough aside for it to rest
Now it’s time for you to prepare your meat pie filling
- Get a clean pot on fire
- Add vegetable oil
- Add onions
- Add the mincemeat and stir it very well
- Add curry and Thyme
- Add water
- Add seasoning cube to taste
- Add salt to taste
- Cover for it to boil for 2minutes
- Add the potatoes and carrots
- Allow it to boil for minute
- Take 2 tablespoon of flour in to a bowl Add a little water for a paste
- Add the paste into the boiling filler to ticking it
- live it to cook for a minute
- Add the green pepper, red pepper, yellow pepper
- Stir well and turn off the heat.
Rolling the dough and making the meat piePreheat oven at 180C/350FBreak the egg into a bowl, whisk and set asideSprinkle a bit of flour on a plain, clean surface/worktopDivide dough into 2 or 3 places and roll out flat using a rolling pinPlace a circle cutter on the flat dough and cut out into many circles you can get. use a makeshift if you don’t have a cutter. Repeat this process with the rest of the doughAdd the meat filling to the centre of the circled dough, brush one half of the circle with whisked egg and carefully fold over the meat filling making sure the 2 edges touch one another. The aim of the egg is to seal the dough.Close edges by pressing down with the tip of a fork Repeat this process for the remaining dough and filling. Place a foil in a baking tray and rub with oil this stops the pie from sticking to the tray when done. Alternatively use a parchment paper.After you have completely filled the pastry, set on a baking tray, egg wash the top and pinch with a forkPlace in the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes at 180C⁰/350F.
