Ofe Nsala is a delicacy peculiar to the Igbo tribe of Nigeria, especially the people of Anambra state. Ofe Nsala is known as white soup because palm oil is not used for the preparation, unlike other traditional soups.
You can use catfish to cook it, or chicken, even Assorted meats, but I will be using goat meat for my own let’s go there.
Ofe Nsala White Soup Recipe
Below are the ingredients you will be needing:
- Goat meat
- Pomo
- Stock fish
- smoked fish
- Yam
- Blended crayfish
- Onions
- Yellow pepper (habanero)
- Chopped uziza leave
- Seasoning cube
- Salt
Method of preparing Ofe Nsala Soup
- wash your goat meat and pour into a clean pot
- Season with seasoning cube and salt to taste and onions
- Add water and boil until it’s soft
- Wash your pomo and set aside
- Blend your yellow pepper and onions and set aside
- Cut the uziza leave and set aside
- Cut one slice of yam and peel it and blend it and set aside
- Debone the smoked fish and set aside
- Boil your pomo and stock fish a bit
- So inside the boiled goat meat, add the blended pepper
- Add the stock fish, smoked fish and pomo
- Add the crayfish and allow it to boil
- Add more water if needed, and also seasoning cube if needed
- Add the blended yam and stir it very well
- Allow it to boil a bit
- Then add your Uziza leave
And your soup is ready!
