Africa Initiative for Governance Scholarships Application Details
Africa Initiative for Governance Scholarships are accepting applications for their AIG Scholarships 2024-2025 program, giving West African sub-region students an opportunity to attend Oxford University on full scholarship. Applications from graduate students of all backgrounds are welcomed for consideration.
AIG Scholarships are intended for recent graduates between 25-45 who possess exceptional intellectual capabilities and outstanding results in their studies, demonstrated leadership qualities, and possess an interest in contributing towards developing Africa’s public sector.
Since 2017, AIG Scholarships have provided exceptional West Africans seeking public sector careers an opportunity to complete a Master of Public Policy degree at Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford. Since 2017 alone, over PS50,000 in scholarships has been distributed among 29 aspiring public sector executives with genuine passions for public service.
AIG Scholars study at one of the premier institutions, learning from top professors and experts while networking with futuristic public sector leaders around the globe. Following graduation, they return home and use their newfound knowledge to strengthen policymaking processes, promote reform initiatives, and assist their nations’ in their development efforts.

AIG Scholarships 2024-2025 Eligibility Criteria:
- Are You Employed in Public Administration in Nigeria (Ministries, Departments, Agencies & Parastatals) at either State or Federal Level? If this describes your current occupation then this section could be of great interest.
- Between 25 to 45 years of experience (combining public and private sectors ) working knowledge.
- Your educational background must include at least a Bachelor’s Degree with at least two higher qualification.
- Leadership ability and academic distinction are paramount when selecting candidates. Candidates possessing second-class higher qualifications (Master’s or 2nd degree, for example) may provide additional advantages in this respect.
- Only those selected to advance to the next phase are contacted; any enquiries about individual applications are strictly forbidden.
- Mail-in applications or in-person submissions cannot be accepted; finalists from the Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) selection process should direct apply directly at Blavatnik School of Governance at Oxford for admission consideration; those offered admission into Master of Public Policy programs will then be assessed during final selection processes for AIG Scholars by this school.

Application Procedure For AIG Scholarships 2024-2025:
- Due to a large volume of applicants, only those shortlisted for further selection are being notified; all inquiries about individual applicant status cannot be taken up at this point in time. It should also be noted that only applications made through our application online portal will be accepted.
- Finalists in the process of candidate selection must submit an admission application directly through the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford for consideration and acceptance, receiving full support through its admissions procedure. Those accepted into Master of Public Policy programs will then be considered for an AIG Scholarship Award.
